Chocolate Babka

Chocolate Babka

Swirled yeast bread with chocolate. Like a cinnamon roll met a chocolate cake.

Chocolate Babka is a soft, pull-apart yeast bread filled with rich chocolate swirls that run all the way through each slice. The dough is gently enriched and twisted so every bite gives you layers of fluffy bread and melty chocolate. A sweet sugar syrup glaze is brushed on top to give it a soft, shiny crust that makes it look as good as it tastes. It is warm, indulgent, and feels like a hug from someone’s grandmother.

The story behind it

Origin

Jewish

Babka comes from Eastern European Jewish kitchens where leftover challah dough was filled with chocolate or cinnamon and baked into a twisted loaf. The word babka means little grandmother in Polish, and this bread was truly made with that kind of love. It became a staple in Jewish bakeries across New York and is now beloved all over the world.
