How do I set up sizes, flavours and variants?

Add the variants you actually offer, then set a price for every combination. The thing to get right is the unit of measurement, because it changes per product type.

Before you start

Write down, on paper, every size you genuinely make and the price for each. Not the sizes you could make if someone asked.

Steps

  1. In the product builder, open the variants section.
  2. Add your flavours if the product has them. A cake might be Vanilla, Chocolate, Red Velvet.
  3. Add the sizes you offer. For a cake that might be 300 g, 500 g, 750 g, 1 kg, 1.5 kg.
  4. Choose the unit of measurement that fits the product.
  5. Enter the price for each flavour and size combination.

Picking the right unit

ProductUnit
Cakes, sweets, anything by weightg / kg
Cupcakes, samosas, individually sold itemspieces (pcs)
Payasam, beverages, anything liquidml / litre

Getting this wrong is the most common listing error. A payasam listed in grams confuses everyone, including you when the order comes in.

How to know it worked

Open your own product page as a customer. Switch between the sizes. The price should change each time, and every combination should have one.

If it doesn't work

  • A combination shows no price. Every flavour and size pairing needs its own. An empty one blocks the order.
  • You only make one size. Then add one. A single variant is perfectly normal.

Pricing each one

Every combination needs a price you can actually make money on. See How should I price my products?
