Packing your orders
Pack for the journey, not for the kitchen counter. The box will be carried on a two-wheeler, over roads that are not smooth, possibly in the heat.
The basics
- Food-safe containers, sealed properly
- A rigid outer box for anything that can be crushed
- Something to stop movement inside. A cake that slides is a cake that arrives on its side
- A base board under anything soft
- Insulation for anything temperature sensitive, and more of it than you think in summer
- The right way up, marked clearly if it matters
The test
Pick the sealed box up and tilt it gently. If anything moves inside, pack it again.
Temperature
Fresh cream, chocolate work and anything that melts need genuine thought in Indian heat, not a gesture towards it. An ice pack and a thicker box cost very little next to a refund and a bad review.
Then photograph it
Product, then sealed box, immediately before handover. Every single order. See A product arrived damaged for why.
It is part of the product
Customers judge packaging as part of what they bought. A beautiful cake in a crushed box is a bad experience, whatever the cake tasted like. A well packed order that arrives exactly as intended is a reason to order again.
