What if I cannot make something that is already ordered?

Tell the customer and tell us, as early as you possibly can. That is the whole answer, and speed is the only thing that makes it better.

Do not substitute silently

Never send something different from what was ordered without the customer agreeing to it first. A customer who opens a box expecting chocolate and finds vanilla has had a worse experience than one who was told the day before and chose something else.

What to do

  1. Contact the customer directly and explain plainly what happened.
  2. Offer what you can: an alternative they choose, a different date, or a cancellation and refund.
  3. Write to support@cakesify.com with the Order ID so we know before the customer contacts us.
  4. Record what was agreed in the order notes.
  5. Mark the product sold out so nobody else orders it while the problem lasts.

This is different from rejecting

Rejecting happens before you accept, and it is clean. This is a promise you have already made and cannot keep, which is why the communication matters so much more.

It happens to everyone eventually. An ingredient fails, an oven dies, someone falls ill. What separates a seller customers forgive from one they do not is entirely how fast they heard.

Preventing it

Mark products sold out the moment you know, and set prep times that leave you room.
