Why is my payout different from the price I set?
Our commission and the GST on it come off every order. What else happens depends on whether you are GST registered. If you are, the payout can be higher than your price. That is because the GST the customer paid reaches you first, and you pass it on afterwards.
If you are GST registered
A ₹1,000 cake taxable at 18%.
| Product price | ₹1,000 |
| GST 18%, paid by the customer | + ₹180 |
| Customer pays | ₹1,180 |
| Cakesify commission 10% | − ₹100 |
| GST on the commission 18% | − ₹18 |
| TCS 0.5% of the product value | − ₹5 |
| Reaches your bank | ₹1,057 |
Then you remit the ₹180 GST through your own GST return, and the ₹5 TCS is already sitting in your electronic cash ledger to offset it.
So the ₹1,057 is not all yours. After the GST goes out, you are left with about ₹882 of the ₹1,000, and the difference is our commission plus the GST on it.
If you sell under ECO enrolment
The same ₹1,000 cake, with no GST charged.
| Product price | ₹1,000 |
| Customer pays | ₹1,000 |
| Cakesify commission 10% | − ₹100 |
| GST on the commission 18% | − ₹18 |
| TCS | none |
| Reaches your bank | ₹882 |
Nothing to remit afterwards.
They land in the same place
Both routes leave you with about ₹882 from a ₹1,000 sale. Registered sellers see a bigger number arrive and then pay part of it out. Unregistered sellers see the final number straight away.
What differs between the two is cash flow, paperwork and where you are allowed to sell, not how much you end up with. See Do I need a GSTIN?.
Delivery and the gateway fee
Delivery you arranged yourself is added back on top of the figures above. The payment gateway fee and the 18% GST on it also come off, and that depends on how the customer paid.
Where to see yours
Dashboard > Orders > select the order. Every line is shown separately, and Where do I see the breakdown for one order? walks through finding it.
If the numbers look wrong
- TCS appeared and you did not expect it. TCS applies once you are GST registered. Sellers on ECO enrolment have none.
- The payout is more than your price. If you are registered, you have received the customer's GST along with it. Set it aside; it is not yours.
- Delivery is missing. On an integrated delivery, the charge goes to the delivery partner.
- Something was taken back later. A refund after settlement is adjusted against a later payout.
